Harvex Geosolutions Limited and its Technical Partner Shearwater GeoServices on Friday 14th July 2023 donated Unix Workstations to the Department of Geophysics, Covenant University, and the Centre of Excellence. This donation is in furtherance of the Shearwater University Assistant Program (SHUAP) which aims to promote the teaching and learning of seismic data processing using Shearwater’s Reveal Software.
With this presentation, these institutions join a global academic community that is using the REVEAL software to train the next-generation seismic processor in the theory and practice of seismic Data processing. This will provide a firm foundation for students that choose to pursue a career in seismic processing. Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Managing Director of Harvex Geosolutions Peter Macaulay stated that the SHUAP initiative is a novel University-Industry collaboration and expressed confidence in the ability of the faculty of both universities to put these resources into good use for the benefit of their students and the industry at large. Accepting the donations on behalf of the Centre of Excellence in Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering, Prof. Difference Ogagarue expressed his gratitude to the SHUAP initiative and described this initiative as an opportunity to teach principles and practice of Seismic Processing to students at undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Research levels in the University. He noted that this is one of its kind and his institution is excited to have been chosen as a pioneer beneficiary. Pastor Williams A. Ayara, accepting the donations on behalf of Covenant University, haled this gesture as a great way of bridging the gap between Academia and Industry and his institution is looking forward to putting this resource into good use
